Five years ago today I arrived in Tangier, Morocco. It was a fifteen hour flight across the Atlantic and I remember the excitement and anticipation that I had about arriving there. I had no idea how God was going to use the next six weeks in my life, I was just excited about the adventure that was awaiting me.

I spent the next six weeks with veteran missionary Tyler Masters who spent a lot of time teaching me, mentoring me, and showing me the great need, not just in North Africa, but around the whole world.

I was able to, for the first time in my life, preach the gospel to people who had no idea about who Jesus really was and could not comprehend a God who loved them so much He would send His only Son to die for them.

I was amazed by the reception of this “hard” people. They were surprisingly very kind, welcoming, and willing to discuss religion and the Bible. My previous world view was completely destroyed and was opened up to how the gospel can affect the hearts and lives of people all around the world.

It wouldn’t be for another four years that I would surrender my life to be a missionary, but it was the six weeks I spent in Morocco that kept coming to my mind and pushing me to surrender to the call that I knew God had placed on my life.

I say all this to make one point. I wish that every young person, boy and girl, would take the opportunity to go on a foreign mission trip. You may not leave the field surrendering your life to be a missionary, but I honestly believe that it is hard to leave completely unaffected. I pray that you would consider going on a mission trip and be open to see how God can use you in the goal of reaching the world.

If you would like more information I encourage you to visit Vision Baptist Missions and check out all the different mission trips that we have going on this summer.
