Visiting a Local Temple
Every Friday we have a youth meeting at the church in Chhatarpur. There will be a good amount of teens gathering to hear the Bible taught, play games, and eat some snacks. It is a great time to invest in the youth in the area.
This Friday before the youth meeting I went with the pastors of the church to visit one of the largest temples in Delhi that happens to be just around the corner from where the church is. The Chhatapur Temple covers over 60 acres and has over 20 small and large temples connected to it.
Within this temple there is a huge tomb dedicated to its founder, Baba Sant Nagpal ji, who died in 1998. We went inside his tomb and there was a punja (hindu priest) taking money and giving blessings, there were many incarnations of one of their goddesses on display, and there was the large casket of the former guru.
It broke my heart as we were here visiting, and were hearing the stories of the gods, to see people entering and leaving praying, doing their rituals, and worshipping these idols. Praise God that we serve a living savior, but please pray for the church, missionaries, and pastors working in Delhi, India that they are able to be a light and see many people go from worshipping idols to worshipping the true and living Savior!
