What If They Were Worshipping God?

While I was in India, I had the opportunity to visit the mountainous state of Uttarakhand. The state is known both for its beautiful mountains and religious pilgrimage locations. We were able to visit several villages during our 24-hour trip here.

Our taxi driver wanted to make sure we could see something very special that happens every night. It is called the Ganga Aarti. Every night hundreds of villagers and tourists will gather along the banks of the Ganges river and sing praises, offer prayers and incense, and worship the river.

As I watched the ceremony take place, I couldn’t help but think, what if they were worshipping God? The darkness of the worship was overwhelming, and my burden for the people grew. If only the passion for worship was directed at the God who loves them.

The people have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge (Romans 10:2.) They worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator (Romans 1:25.) And they do this because they do not know because they have not heard (Romans 10:14.)

Would you please pray with me that more laborers will go to the harvest? Please pray that our family would be able to get to India quickly.
